A very appropriate Kate song given our troubled times. Always one of my favourites, it has more meaning now than it did when I first listened/watched it.

We have just begun transferring from VHS to DVD. it is a long process, because:
1. We can only transfer at 'normal' speed. This means one tape at a time, usually during the night.
2. If it is a really interest VHS (like a home movie), evryone wants to watch it and it becomes an even slower process (popcorn and other cinema effects required.)
3. If it is 'copy protected' film, you need to get a special cable to be able to overcome the macromedia encoding (at least int he UK that is the case.)
4. I am crap at taking the time to read instruction manuals.

I bought a DVD Recorder that has a hard drive, but in hindsight I wonder if one that has integrated VHS/DVD would have been better?

I'd love to just tape it from my VCR to my DV camera, and then save it on my computer (it's just a short 4-5 minute long video, right now), BUT, I can't record TO my DV Cam, from the VCR. *sigh*

Victor says there's someone he works with who does stuff like that all the time, and maybe I should just send him to work with the video tape and a DVD. =)
