« Happy Father's Day | Main | Then and Then and Now...? »

Just for fun...
As serious as my last entry was, I still have to have a bit of fun, with it. It's not exactly a Then and Now, more like a "Then and Then", but fun, all the same.
Anyone of my era should be very well aquainted with this cover of Night On Bald Mountain. In fact, you all should have had your very own copy of the album featuring it, and you should have been PROUD. Oh so very proud (bonus points if you currently own said album in CD form - I do!).
So gather around kiddies, and let's take a little walk back into our childhoods, shall we? I'm not giving you any more spoilers, than what's written above, so it's up to you to figure out what it is, and where it's from. First one to post the correct answers in the comments wins a special entry, dedicated just to them, including a song. Whoo hoo!

Is it, "Night on The Disco Mountain", by David Shire off of the Saturday Night Fever Album?
If it is, then it is an adpatation of St John's Night on The Bare Mountain by the Russian Composer Mussorgsky. He wrote it in 1867. It was used on Disney's Fantasia.
St John's Night is 23rd of June I think, spooky indeed.

I should have known. =) Now I've got to think about what to write in an entry about Perry. Should be interesting, since I know very little about you.
Your answer about Mussorgsky sounds exactly like something my dad would have said (and probably did, at some point). You did see that I posted Mussorgsky below, though, uh, right....? ;)

I used to have this on vinyl!

Oh yes, I did see it, I just thought it very appropriate to point out that he wrote it a long time ago and that he wrote it to coincide with the 23rd/24th of June which is when the witches' sabbath of St John's night was celebrated and that you used it so close to that date (19 June.)
Did you plan that, or is it just one of those spooky things (synchronicity)?

I remember my dad telling me the story of St. John's night, and the witches sabbath, when discussing Night On Bald Mountain. I didn't remember the date, if he even told it to me, which he likely didn't. So, I guess that would make it a spooky, but very interesting coincidence.

I think it's the opening segment of the Beastie Boys' song "Intergalactic Planetary."
