Catbox quandary
Why is it that within 2 minutes of cleaning the catbox, there's a cat in there stinking the place up again? It doesn't matter if it's just a scoop cleaning, or a full litter replacement cleaning - catbox clean - cat(s) in there pooping within minutes.
It's aggravating, I mean, seriously, if they didn't have to use it right before I clean it, then why must they all of a sudden have to go right after I clean it? Do they have some kind of "poop reserve" they keep for just those occasions, or what?
So, the box is clean - completely new litter (tomorrow's trash day), and then the additional scoop cleaning within 5 minutes because Mr. Bingbong just had to christen it.
Now, for a real whammy - the cats are not allowed outside. Bessie has spent a considerable amount of time outside, despite this, but after losing one of our cats, in spring 2005, we're much more careful about watching the doors. He loves going outside, and he is an excellent hunter, so it kind of bums me out, for his sake, but I'd rather him be inside, and safe. Anyway, do you know what he does when he does happen to escape to the great outdoors? He waits. Yep. Upon returning from an outside jaunt, Bessie's first stop in the house is always the catbox. WHY?!?!

It's Gritty Kitty lurv!
Usually one or the other of our Persians will be in a catbox before all of the old leavings have been removed from it. It's like they forgot that the catbox was there and think it's cool that this newfangled box with sandy stuff in it has been dropped for their poopy pleasure.
To give them credit, they aren't the swiftest thinkers in the house. Probably somewhere among the 11th and 12th swiftest when it comes to cogitation. But they try well sometimes....
