MAY

So, the season of 24 has come to a close... Jack saves the day by cutting off Chase's hand. Woah. Chase's hands didn't have a very good season. Thanks 24, for another season of crazy intensity.

I'm feeling quite lighthearted tonight. I've had a crazy busy month at work, and I have the next 6 days OFF. I'm flying up to Vegas to hang with my sister for the next couple days, Friday I'm checking out Shrek 2 with Martha and her cool little kiddo Gibson, hopefully hanging with Glen Friday night, facial and dread maintenance + new colors on Saturday, and then KAM TIME. Saturday night through Monday is total Kamming. I'm not sure where my flow will go, but it will either be painting, making music, illustrating Ostrich, or working on kamiam.com... or all of them. Who knows.

I'm ready for June.

Love!

MAY

May is tough. But then, true change always is. I'm realizing that alot of what's going on this month involves discipline. With time, money, food, energy, whatnot... I've been working on flow for so long that I started flowing a bit too fast or something. My Aunt said something about sort of half-assedly doing something, that really kicked home. Oftentimes I claim to be doing something, but on a deeper inspection, I'm not nearly as commited as I claim to be. There are a few areas where self-regulation/discipline should be more present, and I'm getting out the stick. It's a nice, glittery, flexible stick, but a stick none the less. I've been anti-commitment so avidly, and changing that is making me cranky, even though I know it's time. I'm commiting to commitment.

2 hours left on 24. I'm already getting nervous for tonight's hour!

MAY

I emailed in sick today when I woke up and my eyes were stuck together. This cold that's been going on hasn't interfered much, but this morning it said "Sleep til 1, motherfucker." - so I did. I woke up at 1:02, to be exact. I feel worlds better after the sleep. Thus, things to do when my head starts working again include, but are not limited to:

1. Redo the graphics on the Dane's head thing. I didn't care for the background treatment when I posted it, and I'm borderline hating it now.

2. Redo the sketchy moments cube. I have more drawings that need to be in there, and the way it's set up is based on an older version of kamiam.com, and it totally doesn't fit into the new collage thing.

3. Add some info to Greg's work.

4. Get the fuq section up.

5. GO SEE NEW MODEL ARMY!!!

6. Finish plywood painting #1. It's looking good so far!

7. Keep on keepin' on.

It might be time for another nap...

MAY

So, in honor of heading to Vegas, I've turned the prototype that I created for Cartman's Boombox over at Southparkstudios.com, into a Dane Cook head noisemaker. I just switched out the sounds and redid the graphics, so it was pretty simple... not my best work by far, but it was a fun little distraction last night.

Large Fry Motherfucker!

OK, I'm so stoked.... Amy, Nita and I are going to Vegas next Saturday to hit the taping of Carson Daly at the Hard Rock, for Dane Cook's performance. It's totally the right time for an evening of debauchery in Vegas. Fucking Rock. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!!

I just got my Real Astrology:

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): It just ain't natural for a Virgo to be a
spectacular exhibitionist. We astrologers might be forgiven, then, if
we've wondered how the singer Beyoncé could possibly be a member of
your tribe, as she claims to be. Recently, the mystery was solved. In an
interview with the "Star," Beyoncé revealed that a character named Sasha
takes over her body onstage. "There's no way I'd wear a short little dress
and dance like that in front of all those people," she said. I bring this up,
Virgo, because I'd like you to consider acquiring your own alternate
personality. He or she could help you fulfill your current cosmic
mandate, which is to climb to a rooftop or mountaintop or tabletop and do
a song and dance dedicated to the person you want to be five years from
today.

It's right on, as it is every Wednesday. Or late Tuesday night, as it sometime's arrives in my inbox early.

Today I reconnected with an old friend. That's just fucking cool. He's doing well, and our paths may cross in August. We still seem to have a natural vibe, I think it's due to being similar kind of people... It makes me smile that a connection can be dormant for fifteen years and then pop right up again for a phone conversation. It reminded me of when I used to babysit, and he would keep me company on the phone. Except back then I really wanted to kiss him. Now, it would kick ass to meet his kids. I bet they're awesome. Ah, times change, but there are always Real people out there, no matter what time it is.

Time to yoga out to the Misfits, in honor of a friendship based on notes. I want your skulls!!!

MAY

My Dad made the most awesome propeller for Ramona's antenna... when I hit about 25 mph, it spins like the wind. Beautiful!!

Also, he told me that him and Nathan (my nephew) were looking at planes going by the house through binoculars, and Nathan told my Dad he was going to be a pilot, so he could go get Aunti Kam. AAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!! That's just the best. I love my family, man. We're all pretty sure that Nathan thinks I live at the airport. So cute.

Now, off to Saturday!

MAY

So, may I, may I, may I say, that I love May. The collage is down. My wall is white. It's gorgeous! It took 9 hours! And I'm pleased to say that the mounting technique that I used on this final iteration of the collage, left but a few screw holes in the wall and nothing more. Unlike the last place, where I lost a good bit of my security deposit due to collage wall damage!

Next task is vacumming and cleaning the post-collage debris. I've got a great rug to put down in front of the wall as a painting floor, and I'm looking for the perfect easel. The space is perfect. A permanent painting setup was the last thing I wanted in my apartment... I'm so happy that the signs pointed to taking down the collage and my painting space appeared.

Next on deck, this weekend I'm going to finish reworking the cubes on the collage that have been stagnating from past design. I'm yoked that the Beta version of kamiam.com has been so well received, and that final preparations for the official 1.0 launch are in the works. I get prints from Kevin next week of the final collage, and a couple of my new paintings. Sweet.

I've been thinking of my Nephew today, and I can't stop smiling and cracking up. The other day, he answered the phone with "Hiiiiiii Aun Ti Kam" and when my sister asked him how he knew it was me on the phone, he replied in the sweetest of voices, "Because she LOVES me." The Force is strong with us!

Now, off to vacuum!

May

So, May kicks ass already. The first big thing is that I'm taking down the collage. It's coming off the wall, now that I've had the final photo shoot done for the site.... I've plotted out my plan for removal, and tomorrow is the first day of work on it.

The best, is that I'm going to use the wall to mount my easel, so that I have a permanent place to paint. And just to fuel that, once the collage is down, I have 6 awesome pieces of plywood to paint on. So the collage is being recycled into new artwork. Fuckin' sweet.

And now, Blake:

Rock, rock, and more rock.
